  3. Free Documentary Film Screening of Trudell

    November 9, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM @ El Morro Events Center

    The film documents the life and work of American Indian activist John Trudell, who in the late 60's along with a community group occupy Alcatraz Island for 21 months, bringing international recognition to the American Indian cause. In 1979 John burned a U.S. flag on the the steps of the FBI headquarters in Washington DC and within hours his family perished in a suspicious fire. He spent several years wandering the country until he found a new way to present his ideas through music. Sage Trudell, the daughter of John Trudell will be in attendance to host a discussion following the film. Brought you by OFPL, McKinley Collaborative for Health Equity Indigenous Lifeways, Inc. and New Mexico Social Justice and Equity Institute. Refreshments provided.
